Project Engineer

Alana provides general engineering assistance across Point Blue's service areas with a primary focus on remediation services. She performs engineering calculations, cost estimating, and the management of soil and groundwater disposal, while preparing engineering specifications and technical reports. Her field work includes site inspections and project oversight for operations and maintenance systems, soil removal activities, chemical treatment injections, and demolitions. She supports the Site Characterization Team through data management, alongside statistical analysis, AutoCAD site plan development, and technical report preparation. Alana also assists the Natural Resources Team by assembling state and county permit applications, conducting buildability and bluff/shoreline assessments, and performing septic system design. She obtained both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in environmental engineering from the University of Michigan. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, as well as painting and cooking.

Senior Geologist/Business Development Director

Chloe, a Professional Geologist, has over 15 years of technical experience in the environmental consulting industry. Her role with Point Blue combines assisting clients with environmental due diligence services as well as leading all marketing activities. Chloe specializes in Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs), due care evaluations, groundwater monitoring, and vapor intrusion projects. Chloe has a degree in Environmental Geoscience from DePauw University and is most in her element while hunting for rocks and photographing the great outdoors.

Project Geologist

Caleb is a project geologist for Point Blue and provides technical assistance to site characterization services in the field involving environmental sample collection activities (soil, groundwater, and soil gas) as well as research for Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, data management, and assistance with drafting technical reports. Prior to joining Point Blue, Caleb worked for a residential construction company. Caleb earned his B.S. in Environmental Science and Geology at Adrian College and enjoys art, live music, building things, and spending time with friends and family.

Environmental Project Coordinator

Sargun oversees and manages projects, ensuring they align with Point Blue’s environmental goals and established timelines.  She also conducts environmental impact assessments, analyzes data, and implements solutions that minimize ecological footprints.  Dr. Kaur also facilitates communication with stakeholders, providing detailed reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.  Sargun received her M.S. and Ph.D in Environmental Science from Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Nauni, Solan, India and her B.S. in Agriculture from Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar, India. Her expertise in environmental science directly supports Point Blue in achieving its sustainability objectives while promoting innovative practices across projects. In her free time, Sargun really enjoys traveling around the world.

Natural Resources Lead | Senior Biologist

Alec has over five years in the field of Natural Resources. His experience covers many fields, from Great Lakes and inland shorelines, wetlands to prairies, and upland northern forest. He has worked with invasive species management, threatened and endangered species protection, ecological restoration, small mammal and parasitic research, and laboratory sampling. Alec specializes in Natural Resources services at Point Blue and works with landowners to meet regulatory requirements in critical dunes, high risk erosion areas, and wetlands; and with permitting, buildability, site restoration, erosion control, water quality, and lakes, ponds, and fisheries management. Alec also assists with Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments. Alec holds a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Management and a second B.S. in Environmental Science both from Northern Michigan University.

As Project Engineer, Sophia provides engineering assistance to the remediation team, as well as being tasked with assembling engineering specifications and technical reports, engineering calculations, cost estimating, management of soil/groundwater disposal, and site plan development. Sophia holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University. In her free time, Sophia enjoys reading and painting.

Director of Industrial Hygiene

Travis has over 20 years of professional experience in the industrial hygiene industry.  As the director of industrial hygiene for Point Blue, he is involved with conducting industrial hygiene studies for the manufacturing and construction trades as well as accredited as a certified asbestos inspector, contractor/supervisor, management planner, and project designer in Michigan and an asbestos inspector in Indiana.  Travis has previously served as a Senior Project Manager and Industrial Hygienist performing all phases of investigation, sampling, report generation, and project management for asbestos inspections, remediation, and industrial hygiene issues or concerns in the workplace.  Travis earned his degree in Architectural Technology, Microscopy, Instruction, Consultation & Analysis (MICA) from Northern Michigan University.  In his spare time, Travis enjoys traveling with his family, hunting, and fishing.

Project Biologist

Aleena provides technical assistance to Senior Biologists with ecological projects as well as being tasked with assembling state and county permit applications associated with natural resources project permitting, conducting natural resources assessments of critical dunes and high risk erosion areas, assisting with wetland delineations, and reporting the results of the assessments, delineations, and surveys. Aleena holds a B.A. in Geography: Environmental Analysis and Resource Management, with a Minor in Environmental Studies and Sustainability from Western Michigan University. In her spare time, Aleena enjoys horseback riding.

Founder and President

Mark founded Point Blue to provide clients with a better option. He has more than 30 years of experience working closely with clients and regulatory agencies to navigate environmental laws, guidelines, and best practices. Mark’s project and program experience includes property transactions (Phase I and Phase II), due care, baseline environmental assessments (BEAs), site investigations, site remediation, vapor intrusion, groundwater monitoring, expert witness testimony, third party reviews, and brownfield programs for clients across the midwest. Mark, licensed as a Certified Professional Geologist, has a degree in Geology from the University of Michigan.

Chief Operating Officer

Sandy keeps the entire Point Blue team on course. Sandy is responsible for Point Blue’s day-to-day administrative and operational functions. Sandy’s strong managerial, communication, and leadership skills are an integral part of our team at Point Blue. Sandy has over 35 years in the office management environment. Sandy is a master at juggling multiple tasks, using her diverse skills and experience in accounting, human resources, and client services. Sandy’s keen attention to detail and strong knowledge of professional services steadies the Point Blue ship.

Characterization Team Lead

Mark has over 20 years of experience in the environmental consulting and construction industry. As the Characterization Team Lead at Point Blue he leads site investigation project design and implementation, project oversight and management, and sampling collection efforts. Mark specializes in Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA), Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Baseline Environmental Site Assessments (BEAs), due care investigations and evaluations, vapor intrusion investigations, and is a certified asbestos inspector. Mark earned a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from Lake Superior State University. He enjoys chasing salmon and steelhead on the Great Lakes and their tributaries or canoeing in the beautiful Boundary Waters in Minnesota.

Team Leader, Due Diligence

Marcy has over a decade of professional safety experience. Marcy is responsible for preparing and managing Phase I ESAs, and is also involved with Phase II Site Investigations, asbestos surveys, vapor intrusion evaluation/sampling, and BEAs. She prepares and reviews site specific health and safety plans, provides safety review/planning associated with demolition and site remediation projects, and provides regulatory review support. Marcy earned her B.S. in Anthropology from Central Michigan University. Marcy was an Aviation Electrician in the U.S. Navy and served during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. She enjoys watching sports and bonfires with friends.
